Project in Africa

 

The Rotary Club of Sandy is participating with other Rotary Clubs in a project to build an

Education Centre in Ghana

 

 

The other clubs involved are: 

 

Rotary Club of Luton

Rotary Club of Quedlinburg (Germany)

 

 

Project Location:

Nsuta, Techiman, Ghana

 

 

 

… Nsuta is one of a number of small villages in the vicinity,

all of which will be served by the new facility.

 

The whole area is blighted by poverty.

 

The project is for an Education Centre, providing facilities for adult education as well as for children aged 6-16 years.

The whole purpose of this project is to provide access to the foundation of a more meaningful, purposeful and fulfilling life for all concerned in these rural communities.

Site-work started October 2020  ----  Projected completion April 2022

Budget:

€ 323,725 of which:

 

 

 

€ 90,975 was raised by Rotary
€ 232,750 Overseas Development Grant from the German Government

 

 

Scope:

12 classrooms (450 children)
Training Centre for adults
Toilets
Borehole for clean drinking water
Meeting room
Accommodation block for 2 teachers
All furnishing and teaching materials

 

 

 

The installation is designed to be sustainable.

 

 

 

 

 

Rotary sees itself as being committed long-term to this project.


We will be asking the public to help us, not simply financially, but also with donations of
English-language children’s books, and teaching materials, second-hand laptops and
any suitable stationery supplies.
